Ordinances of the Convention, 1865.

The Constitutional Convention of 1865 met from Sept. 12 to Sept. 30 to restore Ala. to the Union. This series consists of four handwritten documents which represent a small sampling of the ordinances presented to the Convention. The subjects of the ordinances include the relief of debtors; the voiding of judgments when the consideration was the purchase money of slaves; and the abolition of all counties established since the beginning of 1865 and th eprohibition of the creation of new counties less than 600 square miles in size.
